In 2012, Techniseal’s polymeric jointing sand began to lose market share to competitors who began to introduce plastic packaging solutions that could withstand exposure to moisture and be stored outdoors. Although Techniseal recognized the need for an alternative packaging solution, maintaining its existing filling capacity would be essential and compliance amongst its 14 global co-packers would be difficult to achieve. Quick-venting, weather-resistant valve bags did not exist at the time. Plastixx FFS Technologies was tasked with designing a customized solution that could effectively protect against moisture and precipitation and be adaptable enough to maintain high-speed filling. After two years of rigorous research, testing, and validation, the XVALVE+™ bag was born. Plastixx’ XVALVE+™ bag could be stored outdoors, is 100% recyclable and is fully compatible with the co-packers existing machinery, eliminating costly investments in new filling equipment.
